In search of victory

2nd January 1953,

Dear diary,

                    As I write this today, I, Chairman Mao Zedong, leader of the People's Republic of China, the legitimate government of China now in exile in Taiwan know that we have been defeated by the imperialists in Korea. The communists of the North despite our and the great Stalin's help have capitulated to the imperialists of the South which were helped by the US and that bastard Chiang Kai-shek leader of the illegitimate government situated in Beijing.

    It all started in 1946 when my long march was meant to liberate my homeland from the clutches of that bastard. But then the imperialist Americans intervened and sent their troops to my country to use napalm and agent orange on poor peasants! My ill-equipped comrades fought to the very last man but could not win against such odds. Therefore I had to flee to Taiwan where I have established socialism in keeping with my principles which are different from the version propagated by Lenin. I call it socialism with Chinese characteristics and I hear that the Americans call it Maoism. However, I could not never abandon our homeland. Already with the help of my fellow comrade Stalin, we have started training our army with modern warfare techniques as well as equipping them with modern weapons. We have also begun training the poor peasants in the mainland who still remember our struggle so that we can assemble a large army to fight against the imperialists. Comrade Stalin has also promised to equip us with our own nuclear weapons so that we can directly pose a challenge to the imperialists in Asia.

    Therefore when North Korea, the rightful government of that country attacked the imperialist backed and illegitimate South, we and Stalin helped the Northerners with troops, arms and equipment. The war was going well until the imperialists intervened and used all their might against us. The battle of Pyongyang was the turning point of the war and although our Korean comrades fought valiantly, they were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the enemy. Even as I write now, our army is fighting with those imperialists who have attempted an amphibious landing in Taiwan to deal a final blow to Communism in Asia. We may lose the war, I may be captured and killed but my ideas will last generations. My people are satisfied with my governance and I also enjoy strong support in the mainland. I know that even if I lose, they will fight for me and one day they will win. Communism in Asia will rise again!!!
