In Search of Victory part-6

 28th February 1966,

Dear Diary,

As I stare at the future of Latin America and the Caribbean, I, Fidel Castro, President of Cuba am faced with a daunting prospect. The imperialist United States of America has been trying to force these regions to do their bidding. But as I showed in Cuba, these regions will decide their own future and will not be mere puppets of the US and its allies. Already the values of socialism have penetrated into Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Guatemala, while socialist outfits trained by us have sprung up in Jamaica,  Bolivia and El Salvador. The time looks right for socialism to flourish in the Caribbean and Latin America.

However, President Kennedy has shown that he would not let socialism flourish in these regions so easily. Already US troops have been sent to Argentina which due to American interference has become divided into two parts. However, the Peronists have shown that they would not bow down to the imperialists so easily. We must remember that the US remains our most important enemy as it obstructs our people to choose the government of their own choosing. In fact President Kennedy has already in a recent speech proclaimed the need for democracy in the Caribbean and Latin America. That means that the US will not allow the peoples of these lands the freedom to exercise their political will. They will again try to create a system of banana republics like they did in the past. This is because the US government is a slave to the corporations that are preodominant over there. Or in other words, companies govern the government. It is the companies that fund President Kennedy and therefore he will do everything in his power to aid them. This is why he has sent troops to support Presindent Ortega of the Dominican Republic who fights against Jose Emmanuel Sanchez who fights for the socialist cause. The US government opposes socialism in our lands because then we would nationalize our industries which will lead to big losses for their corporations who govern their land.

However we have been exploited by them far too long. Yesterday my friend Che Guevara who is leading the Bolivian guerilla gave a famous speech. He said that it is not the US but the peoples of Latin America themselves who will decide their own future and I agree with him. I believe that we have been exploited by the imperialists far too long for us to just bow down to them and do their bidding. We will never be enslaved again and will fight to the death to have our freedom. Long live socialism!!! And may we be victorious!!!
