In Search of Victory part-2

 3rd February 1953,

Dear Diary,

As I write this, I know that illness is slowly killing me, Joseph Stalin, premier of the USSR and chief of the Soviet Communist Party. The last month has been tough on me. We lost the Korean War and later Mao was defeated, captured and killed after the battle of Taipei. All his work was undone and the revolution in Mainland China again attempted by a guerrilla army secretly raised by him and I failed again due to the intervention of the Americans. Now the Americans seem to have complete control over Asia while Ho Chi Minh of the Vietnamese guerilla being the only vanguard of Communism in Asia. He is still valiantly fighting the French colonialists who enjoy considerable US support. It is on Vietnam that we must concentrate our energy on. Yesterday I summoned Beria and gave him the order to provide support to the Vietnamese guerillas who are not only facing the French army but also Napalm bombing by the Americans. A Communist government must be established in Vietnam! And I will see to it.

Meanwhile, the situation in Europe is getting tenser. With the Americans already having successfully created a large army of guerrillas in Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Although I immediately sent troops into those troubled lands it is difficult as the guerrilla is being supported from covert American bases in Germany. Meanwhile, in Berlin, our soldiers are involved in a tense standoff with the Americans as many East Berliners had crossed into West Berlin the previous day and our soldiers were trying to prevent that. I know that building a wall around East Berlin is the only option now.

Our survival as a Communist state and the survival of Communism, in general, depends upon what we do now and therefore we have to be decisive in our decision making. However, a strange development gives me hope. There is this man called Fidel Castro in Cuba, a tiny country that lies close to the US who is waging a war against the capitalist ruling regime of Batista who enjoys the support of the Americans. This man Castro even tried to bomb an army barrack in Cuba and therefore is serving a year of imprisonment. I have made arrangments for him to be taken out of jail and transported to Moscow so that we can help him to raise an army and successfully complete his revolution. It is to Castro we must look to if we are to see the beginning of Communism in Central and Latin America which has been exploited by the US for centuries with imperialist policies. I hope that we will emerge victorious in the fight against Capitalism!
