For freedom

Once upon a time in a conquered land, a call arose for freedom. But the people who made the call were themsleves confused about the means of achieving freedom. While some people suggested that freedom should come through peaceful means as freedom symbolizes peace, others suggested more violent means and methods. Ultimately this debate turned bitter with the struggle for freedom divided into two camps; the peaceful ones and the violent ones. This divide actually aided the conquerors as they knew that with the freedom struggle divided, the resistance against them would also be weakened.
The people who were at the forefront of the freedom struggle from both the camps also realized that so they decided to join forces but on one condition that there will be a great debate between the two camps and whoever shall win the debate will decide the means of achieving freedom.
Thus one day members from both the camps met for the debate. The peaceful camp spoke first. They said, "Friends we all know what is our objective. It is liberty from our conquerors. We only differ on the means to achieve it. It is true that the people supporting a violent insurrection have their points. But let us think first that what is the main objective of our attaining freedom. It is to live in peace. If peace is our objective then freedom should also come through peaceful means. We must all remember that violence is not a solution to all our problems but that violence leads to more problems. Therefore we must join hands for a peaceful struggle."
The members from the violent camp were next to speak. They said, "We also agree upon the need for freedom but not with anything else. We believe that freedom can only come if we can earn it and force the conquerors to leave our land. We also believe that after freedom is attained we should not strive for peace but should strive for world supremacy and take revenge on our conquerors for the exploitation they have meted out on us."
To this the peaceful camp said, " Dear countrymen it is no good to be warmongers we must be rational....." Then suddenly they were interrupted by a member of the violent camp who said, " I would rather be a warmonger than a coward." The peaceful camp retorted that "Your actions would lead to the killing of innocent people." The violent camp then said "A few deaths are necessary to attain freedom." Thus a never ending debate continued as both sides refused to concede. All it did was to aid the conquerors who could now cement their rule on the land as the people failed to attain their freedom.
